Wellbeing in Teaching & Learning Environments
Across the university, faculty and staff are collaborating to transform learning environments to support student wellbeing, engagement, and academic tenacity. Research shows that supporting wellbeing in learning environments is foundational to our students achieving deeper learning and academic success.
Enhancing student wellbeing can be most effective when strategies are embedded within learning environments. The impetus to transform learning environments at UBC, so that they are conducive to wellbeing, is in response to the Okanagan Charter’s (2015) call to “embed health into all aspects of campus culture, across the administration, operations and academic mandates” and aligns with the UBC’s (2018) Strategic Plan’s strategy to support thriving communities.
