UBC Health Promotion & Education partnered with SFU Health Promotion and BCcampus to host Thriving Beyond Campuses: Well-being in Learning Environments, a dialogue series that took place between November 2020 and February 2021. Over 200 faculty, educators, and staff attended the four-part virtual dialogue series to engage in inter-institutional conversations on topics related to well-being in learning environments in higher education.

Sessions included a keynote presentation and panel discussion on cognitive bandwidth featuring Cia Verschelden, roundtable sessions highlighting best practices on embedding wellbeing in teaching and learning, and a panel of change agents who shared their observations of systemic changes that support wellbeing in learning environments.

SFU Health Promotion and UBC Health Promotion and Education planned to host an inter-institutional symposium on well-being in learning environments in May 2020 as an opportunity for faculty, educators, and staff from both institutions to connect on the topic of how well-being relates to teaching practices and learning environments. As with many events slated for this year, the planning team reconsidered how it might provide this opportunity and partnered with BCcampus to hold a virtual event series that is open to post-secondary educators from across the province.
